BUNCO
Saturday, Feb. 20th MOPS, POPS and Moppettes gathered at the Youth Center to have a fun filled evening of food, Bunco, and fellowship. The kids played in the gym supervised by an amazing staff of Girl Scouts (and volunteer grownups). It was difficult getting them to leave - they were having such a great time! One amazing outcome from this: I had no issues whatsoever with my 2 year old at MOPS the next Monday morning. He remembered the wonderful time he had and was excited to go! And two hours for Bunco is clearly not enough time. When the clock struck 7, most of us were surprised and sad to have to end the evening. Tasha did an extraordinary job with the decorations. Clearly our Tasha has many talents, and she demonstrated that Saturday night. I am not sure what they are called, but she made the coolest baskets out of paper, ribbon and punched holes and filled a basket for each table with candy. (Not good for my diet, but definitely good...) She also did a great job organizing the evening from Girl Scout child care, to pizza right on time, game playing and prizes. Thank you, Tasha!!
February 22 - our "love" meeting!
Our last meeting in February was our love meeting. We had cheese and chocolate foundues, and everyone brought dippables to share. The meeting started with a rousing game of "I have never...", then we ate our delicious foods while Rachel showed us how to make heart wreaths out of felt. These really turned out nicely, except for those people like me who haven't a crafty bone in their body!! Luckily, everyone was okay with me just chatting my head off the entire time, and I was able to watch all the beautiful hearts being made around me!
Many people brought in their wedding albums as part of our meeting. Gorgeous! I knew we had a good looking group, and the wedding albums sure proved that! We ended the meeting with a word on love from Mentor Mom, Karen. She spoke on the Ultimate Love, that demonstrated by God when He gave His only begotten son so that we might not perish, but have everlasting life. What a wonderful message, and a timely reminder. Relating God's sacrifice to our feelings and hopes and desires for our own children made it that much more real, and personal.
Thank you to everyone who participated and made the meeting so much fun. Can't wait until next month - March 8 our topic will be "Mental Health" with a talk by Jeremy Haskell, and March 22 will be "Tea, Testimonial and Encouragement" with some of the Steering Team sharing their personal testimonies.
